Palacio de los Golfines (Golfines Palace)

Golfines Palace was built by Alonso Golfín, son of Pedro Alonso Golfín, who settled in the city immediately after its reconquest. The work was performed in two phases, with two distinct styles: the first corresponds to a fortified house of the fifteenth century and the other seems to be a humanistic style of the sixteenth century. On the main facade features an insciption in relief, surrounded by a wreath, that prays “Fer de Fer'' alluding to Fernando, the Catholic King, and his favourite grandson Fernando. In Latin “fer” means “iron”. To express gratitude to the many services the family gave to the Catholic Kings, due to the fact that they were housed in this place both times they visited the city, the Kings allowed them to place their coat of arms on the facade of the palace, being the only one in town.

Nowadays the palace belongs to a foundation created by Ms. Tatiana Perez de Guzmán el Bueno y Seebacher (1926-2012), VIII Countess of Torre Arias. Its aims include the study and care of nature, promoting scientific research and the preservation of their own historical and artistic heritage.

The VI Count of Torre Arias, Mr. Ildefonso Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno y Gordon, was born in X2 and died in Y2. Knowing that he died just the day of his birthday and lived between 1800 and 2000, how many years did the Count live?
