Carvajal Palace

PALACIO DE CARVAJAL (Carvajal Palace)

Carvajal Palace was commissioned to be built by Pedro de Carvajal and María de Mayoralgo between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.

Its main facade shows the coat of arms of the family that was at first a red band on a golden field, until they settled in Caceres. At this time it was changed to a black sable due to a sad event: two members of the family were unjustly accused of murdering a member of a rival family, and therefore were executed.

The Carvajals used a rectangle like the one in the figure as a flag in their military campaigns.

Each side of the rectangle is divided into three segments of equal length; the points obtained are linked together to define a point in the center. How much is the ratio of the area of the white part and the area of the black part?
